AN EARLY START

Born in a family of musicians, Steve Gagné got his first drum kit at 8 years old. At that age already, he found his inspiration in the music of great bands such as Genesis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Yes. Growing up, he did not quite fit in. He loved to talk about his idols: "I could not understand why my teachers and the other kids in my class didn't know who were Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Carl Palmer. It was inconceivable!" He was often in detention after school. It seems that his teachers did not appreciate Steve's habit of using his desk as a drum, tapping away the rhythms of all the songs he knew…

On July 13th 1978, Steve's mother brought her young son to Montreal's Forum to see his first live show: the one and only And then there were three by Genesis. Completely blown away by the band's performance, he vowed that night to dedicate his life to music.

A SOUGHT AFTER MUSICIAN

As a teenager, Steve spent his nights and weekends playing in bars across the province of Quebec, which is according to him the best way to learn the ropes.

And he learned his lesson well! Since his early twenties, Steve has played with some of Québec's most popular artists: Éric Lapointe, France D’amour, Nancy Dumais, Marie-Chantal Toupin, Nicola Ciccone, Noir Silence and Natasha St-Pier with whom he often tours across Europe.

But Steve doesn't only do live performances. He is also sought after as a studio musician. His latest projects include the albums of Jean-François Dubé and Véronic Dicaire, a talented new singer for whom he is also musical director.

Ever since he decided to become a professional drummer, Steve has kept his ears and his mind open. His exploration of many different musical styles has made him a very versatile and popular musician.

THE "IN THE AIR TONIGHT" ADVENTURE

In 1996, Steve founded the Phil Collins tribute band « In the air tonight ». Composed of 10 musicians, including 2 drummers, a brass section and back-vocalists, this tribute band is unique in North America. And just like Phil Collins, Steve sings and plays piano and drums!

A DOWN-TO-EARTH AND FUNNY MAN!

Despite his hectic professional life, Steve has never lost sight of his priorities. His greatest pride is his wife and two daughters. He takes care of the people in his life, attaching importance to the quality of all his relationships. A simple and down-to earth person, Steve is also passionate and invests all that he is in the projects he participates in. This is why the project he toys with for the years ahead, artist management, will certainly be successful!

One of Steve's most obvious characteristics is his sense of humor. He loves to have fun! A day without joking around is completely impossible for him. Be sure that if you ever have the pleasure of meeting Steve Gagné, you will remember him for a long, long time!
